7 Tips To Start Your Online Biz

Today I’m going to share 7 tips to start your online biz.

Starting a side hustle can:

• Teach you new skills.

• Earn you more money.

• Help you leave the 9-5.

Unfortunately, starting an online business isn't common knowledge.

How Does It Work?

It's often thought starting an online business is:

• Hard.

• Confusing.

• Time consuming.

While some of this is true, it's quite doable for most people.

It's cheap and there's little downside as Justin points out:

1 year ago I started my own little online biz.

Had no clue what I was doing.

But wanted to give it a shot.

Here’s what happened:

- 40,000 followers.

- A weekly newsletter.

- A new online course.

- A viral post (25M views).

None of it was easy.

But all of it rewarding.

Here's the 7 steps I took (hope it's helpful):

Step 1

Bought Justin Welsh's Content Operating System Course.

It was $99 and totally worth it.

The guy's a master at starting your own little online business using social media.

Step 2

Bought Justin Welsh's LinkedIn Operating System Course.

It was $99 and totally worth it too (even if you're not a LinkedIn user).

The course is great for learning how to create engaging social media content.

Step 3

Posted every single day on social media for a year.

One of my first posts:

The beginning's tough.

No responses.

No likes.

Feels like you're talking to yourself.

But slowly things change.

And people interested in my topic (money & building wealth) followed along.

It's best to pick a top you know well.

Something you won't get tired of talking about like:

What you do for work.

Or, a hobby you enjoy.

Step 4

DM'd people and made friends.

Connecting with others on a similar journey is helpful.

Having other people to chat with along the way makes the experience more enjoyable.

It can also open doors, like invites to a podcast.

Step 5

Joined Matt Gray's Founder OS Course.

It's a great mentorship program.

There's videos, lots of support, and a community of people to help guide you.

The course isn't cheap.

It's like a mini MBA for creating an online biz.

Start with Justin's $99 courses first.

Step 6

Began a weekly newsletter using ConvertKit about 5 months in.

Figuring it out took time.

But it got easier & my writing slowly improved.

Step 7

Created an online course using Kajabi (I use Kajabi for my website too).

This took the longest to figure out by far.

There were many different things to learn.

But it was fun learning each thing along the way.

Conclusion

I hope sharing my journey so far is helpful.

If you've thought about starting your own little online biz.

I'd suggest committing to it for 12 months.

There's a lot to figure out in the beginning.

It takes time.

And slowly gets easier.

Heck, I'm still figuring it out...

But, there's nothing quite like building your own special thing.
